About Proximity Warning Core

Proximity Warning Core is the foundational system in the SensorZone product range. It uses RFID-based personnel tags and vehicle-mounted antennas to create a continuous, 360-degree detection zone around heavy machinery. When a worker wearing a tag enters this detection zone, the system triggers simultaneous alerts to the vehicle operator, the at-risk worker, and the surrounding area.

Designed for industrial environments where reliability, simplicity, and low maintenance are critical, Proximity Warning Core is trusted on sites around the world and has protected workers for over 140 million working hours.

At SensorZone, we believe that the hardware only forms half of the story. Central to the system is the site safety data that it produces, which enables true long-term behavior change and preventative action to be taken before an incident occurs.

How Proximity Warning Core Works

Step 1: Tag Assignment

Every worker gets a unique RFID tag that clips onto a hard hat or vest. Tags last 3+ years with no charging required - just clip on and go.

Step 2: Vehicle-Mounted Detection

Antennas are magnetically mounted to each vehicle to create a detection zone(s). The zone is configurable from 2 to 10 metres for each vehicle.

Step 3: Triple Alert Activation

When a tag enters the detection zone, three alerts activate simultaneously: an in-cab alarm for the driver, a vibrating tag for the pedestrian worker, and an external beacon sounds for everyone nearby.

Step 4: Data Logging

Every detection event is logged with timestamp, vehicle ID, and tag ID. The system data syncs in real time to the SensorZone Insights Platform, enabling unparalled site safety insights and analytics.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Proximity Warning Core take to install?

Most vehicle installations are completed in under 60 minutes. The system uses magnetic mounts and simple wiring connections, so no specialist tools or permanent vehicle modifications are needed. Your fleet stays operational during rollout.

Do the tags need recharging?

No. Proximity Warning Core personnel tags use long-life batteries that last 3+ years without any charging or replacement. There are no docking stations to manage and no daily routines for workers to remember.

Can Proximity Warning Core detect people who aren’t wearing tags?

All personnel in the detection zone need to wear tags in order to be detected. If you need to detect untagged people as well, consider Proximity Warning Plus (which combines tags with AI cameras) or Vision360 (camera-only detection).

What happens if a tag stops working?

Each site will have a Tag Test Unit, which allows workers to check that their tags are working as expected. The unit will flag if a tag battery is running low so you can replace it proactively.

Can I set different detection zones for different vehicles?

Yes. Each vehicle unit is configured independently, so you can set a larger detection zone for dump trucks and a tighter zone for forklifts. Zones are adjustable from 1 to 10 metres.
